Indoor Personal bests for Simon and Jakob

Today Simon Pettersson threw the discus 59.62m indoors in the Växjö Throwing meet in the big Tipshallen. This is a PB indoors for Simon; his previous indoor PB was 58.02m since last year. Simon has thrown about 2m farther in practice indoors but still a good PB and a good indicator on what is coming later on in the season.

Last year Jakob Gardenkrans threw two indoor meets with the 1.75kg discus and had 55.41m and 55.95m in these two meets. Today he threw the 2kg for the first time in a meet indoors and had 55.55m. His outdoor PB with that discus is 53.16m so a great performance for Jakob today. Jakob has also thrown about 2m farther in practice so there is also more coming from him soon.

Jakob qualified today to compete in the U23 class at the European Cup Winter Throwing to be held in Las Palmas next weekend. Daniel Ståhl along with Fanny Roos, Mesud Pezer and Marcus Thomsen will also participate in that meet.

"How to Become an Olympic Champion" is a video series by coach Vésteinn Hafsteinsson on example of Discus Throw legend Gerd Kanter. The first video series puts focus on Olympic Lifting for Throwers. Click here for more info.
