During 2012 Swedish throwing was hit by two tragedies when both Hans "Honta" Höglund and the legendary Ricky Bruch died. These gentlemen hold the shot put and discus records in Sweden.

Hans "Honta" Höglund - 52, shot putter:

 - Personal best 21.33m, 1975 that is the oldest standing Swedish record.

 - "Honta” ended up in 8th place at the OG in Montreal 1976 with the result of 20.18m.

 - After the carrier was over as a shot putter he was a farmer in Sätila.

Björn Richard Bruch - 46, discus thrower:

 - Personal best 71.26m, 1984.
 - Ricky is without a doubt one of the biggest personalities within Swedish sports under the whole century. Nobody has competed more often in so many places in Sweden as Ricky did. When Ricky came to town thousands of people gathered together to see him compete at places  that had no tradition of track & field meetings.
 - Ricky won an OG-bronze1972 in Munchen,
 - EC-silver 1969 and
 - EC-bronze 1974.
 - He broke (equaled) the World Record in discus 68.40m in 1972 at Stockholm Stadium.
 - His personal best of 71.26m done in Malmö is a Nordic Record in the discus throw.
 - Ricky represented the Swedish National Team from 1966-1984 and
 - won the Swedish Championships 11 times in discus and 2 times in shot put.
 - In shot put Ricky even won a EIC-bronze in 1971 and had a PR of 20.28m.
