Priidu and Meigo are training in Växjö

Meigo and Priidu

Priidu Niit and Meigo Tammsaar have been here in Växjö since the 25th August and will leave on Friday. Both were preparing for the Nordic/Baltic Match U23 to be held in Söderhamn, Sweden this weekend.

Three days ago Meigo was very unlucky and pulled his hamstring running easy strides in a warm up before a throwing session. He will then not go and compete on Sunday but take flight home to Tallinn instead. Meigo is still not too far away from being able to compete as he did some easy standing throws today as well as step and turn drills so this injury is not big. A shame for Meigo that had a big chance to break his PR standing at 54.18m in this meet. It will come later.

Priidu has been doing great and had his best session today and was throwing better I have seen before. His PR is 57.60m and he is ready to challenge that mark on a good day. His shape is very good and his technique is getting together again after some difficulties for a while. He has a rest day tomorrow and will travel up to Söderhamn on Friday to compete on Sunday. It will be interesting to see how he does. This meet is strong with the best athletes from the Nordic as well as the Baltic nations.
