Niklas Arrhenius had another great meet in Helsinki, Finland today and yesterday. In the national meet between Sweden and Finland, called Finnkampen Niklas won shot put yesterday with a throw of 19.48m. Today he won the discus with a throw of 62.26m.
These performances are his third best of the year in shot as he did 19.61m in Karlstad and 19.75m in Göteborg earlier on this season. The discus performance is the second best after last week 63.87m at the Swedish Championships in Falun.
I had a goal that Niklas would win the Swedish Championships in both events as well as Finnkampen this year. He did and threw his two best discus meets during these meets. It is a breakthrough for Niklas. To be honest even he has thrown farther in both events I think this is turning into being his best season ever. He is at least performing in the meets that count the most and did a better big championship at the EC this year in Barcelona that he has done before.
Now Niklas only has the Swedish Cup left in three days and then he is off to his home in USA and family. Niklas has worked hard over here in Sweden since mid June and is getting the results out of it now and it is just great. He should be proud of his performances and very happy with this season.
For the next two years Niklas has a big chance to step forward and be one of the best in the world in both events. It will be exciting to follow.
